Enviro-Rock is a lightweight foam glass aggregate used within utility corridors and trench systems where reducing loading, managing drainage, and providing thermal performance are important. At approximately 200–240 kg/m³, it can replace heavier conventional fill in designated trench zones while reducing additional loading on weak soils and buried infrastructure.

Overview
Utility trenches can place substantial additional weight over buried pipes, chambers, culverts, and other infrastructure, particularly where deep fills or weak native soils are present. Conventional granular backfill can also contribute little thermal resistance where frost protection is part of the design.
Enviro-Rock provides a lightweight, free-draining granular fill option that can be incorporated into designated portions of the trench assembly. Its low density helps reduce vertical loading, while a design thermal value of approximately R-2 per inch allows the fill layer to contribute to thermal protection. Bedding, pipe-zone materials, and final placement requirements should follow the project-specific design and applicable specifications.
