Enviro-Rock is a foam glass aggregate used beneath concrete slabs where drainage, thermal performance, and soil-gas movement are important. Its open structure provides approximately 42% void space, while a design thermal value of approximately R-2 per inch allows the same granular layer to contribute to insulation beneath the slab.

Overview
Sub-slab assemblies often require several different functions, including drainage, a capillary break, thermal resistance, and a pathway for soil gases. Enviro-Rock can combine these functions within a single granular layer beneath the concrete slab.
Its interconnected void structure allows water and soil gas to move through the aggregate layer, while its cellular glass structure provides thermal resistance. When incorporated into a properly designed radon-control system, Enviro-Rock can function as the gas-permeable layer that allows soil gas to move toward the collection and venting system.
