    BENEFITS & PROPERTIES

    Thermal Insulation

Insulating fill that provides thermal resistance throughout the aggregate layer.

Enviro-Rock’s cellular foam-glass structure helps reduce heat transfer through the material, allowing the aggregate layer to contribute to the thermal performance of an assembly. With a design value of approximately R-2 per inch, Enviro-Rock can provide insulation while also functioning as lightweight fill beneath slabs, around foundations, and in other below-grade applications.

    R-2 Per Inch
Design thermal resistance through the Enviro-Rock layer.

    Insulating Fill
Combines required fill depth with thermal performance in one aggregate layer.

    Continuous Insulation

Provides thermal resistance continuously beneath slabs and around foundations.

    Why Thermal Insulation Matters

Heat loss through slabs, foundations, and other below-grade assemblies can significantly affect a building’s energy performance and interior comfort.

Enviro-Rock’s cellular foam-glass structure provides thermal resistance throughout the aggregate layer. Using a design value of approximately R-2 per inch, increasing the installed thickness also increases the thermal resistance provided by the fill.

This allows Enviro-Rock to serve as both required aggregate fill and thermal insulation, helping simplify below-grade assemblies where fill depth, drainage, structural support, and thermal performance are all design considerations.

Where Thermal Insulation Makes a Difference

    Foundations & Slab-on-Grade

Provides insulating fill beneath slabs and around foundations, helping reduce heat transfer through below-grade assemblies.

    Rooftops & Terraces

Combines required fill depth with thermal resistance while limiting additional load on elevated assemblies.

    Heated Driveways & Exterior Slabs

Provides thermal resistance beneath heated slabs, helping limit downward heat loss and direct more heat toward the surface.
