    Heated Driveways

    Keep the heat where it matters.

    Enviro-Rock is a lightweight foam glass aggregate used beneath heated driveways and snow-melt pavement systems where thermal efficiency, structural support, and frost performance are important. With a design thermal value of approximately R-2 per inch, it can provide an insulating granular layer beneath the heated pavement while also reducing heat loss into the underlying ground.

    Overview

    Heated driveway systems rely on directing energy toward the pavement surface rather than losing heat into the ground below. Conventional granular base materials provide little thermal resistance, allowing a portion of that energy to move downward.

    Enviro-Rock combines structural fill and thermal insulation within the same granular layer. Its closed-cell foam glass structure provides a design thermal value of approximately R-2 per inch, helping reduce downward heat loss while its tested compressive performance supports the pavement assembly.
